Canaan Presbyterian Church (1255 Milwaukee Ave., Glenview, IL | https://canaan.org), led by Pastor Jeongkuk Kim, will host a Facilitator Workshop on Saturday, August 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. The workshop is designed to equip pastors and church leaders who will be involved in Faith and Work training in partnership with FWIA.
Canaan Presbyterian Church has faithfully served the Korean American community in Glenview for the past 49 years. Pastor Kyusung Jang, the mission pastor of Canaan Presbyterian Church, shared:
“Canaan Church is a very traditional Korean immigrant church that was founded 49 years ago. Like many traditional Korean immigrant churches, our ministry has focused mainly on worship and Bible study. However, we have not placed much emphasis on how believers can live as Christians in their workplaces. Through our partnership with the FWIA Initiative at TEDS, we hope our members will come to realize that their workplaces are sacred spaces of worship where God is present.”
Canaan Presbyterian Church plans to incorporate FWIA gatherings as small group meetings for working professionals within the congregation. Pastor Jang added:
“We believe these gatherings will not only be a time to share and pray over each other’s struggles and challenges in the workplace—where most of their time is spent—but also serve as opportunities to build one another up as healthy, holistic Christians who influence others in meaningful ways.”
